Dispositive motions in arbitration may be just as appropriate—and may be just as beneficial from a time and cost standpoint--as those made in court. Yet, there remains a widespread bias against motion practice in arbitration that may be based as much on misperception as on fears of the process becoming undermined by “creeping legalism.”

During this 60-minute recorded webinar, attorney/arbitrators J. Timothy Eaton and Stanley P. Sklar examine how  arbitrators and advocates might address motion practice under AAA Rules, including how their effective use  may improve the timeliness and cost of reaching an award. With a special focus on how motions are addressed across the full spectrum of AAA Rules, areas covered include--

  • arbitrator authority to hear motions;
  • pre-arbitration motions;
  • consolidation and joinder;
  • interim relief;
  • dispositive motions;
  • summary judgment;
  • writing interim awards to address motions;
  • post-arbitration motions;

and more.

WHO WOULD BENEFIT FROM THIS PRESENTATION:  Arbitrators, advocates, in-house and outside counsel, academics, and anyone interested in the dynamics of arbitration practice.

What others are saying about this presentation...

I am delighted AAA offered this program at no cost.  Such programs enhance the quality of arbitration and its value to AAA users.

Very smart, efficient, and clear presentation of relevant issues.

An excellent primer on Motions in arbitrations.

Webinar offered solid, practical advice on virtually every aspect of motion practice under the AAA’s rules and under specialized rules, such as consumer, construction, and employment. Especially useful was the examination of key differences between rules.

I find the AAA Education Webinars extremely convenient.  Excellent speakers and highly interesting topics.

If the quality of other AAA webinars equal the quality of this particular webinar, the education program and various webinars produced by AAA will be highly beneficial for practitioners involved in field of arbitration.

Excellent, brief, seminar that clarifies the topic, which comes up far to often with attorneys in arbitration.

Great discussion of motions in arbitration and preferred methods for dealing with them.

Excellent program, knowledgeable speakers, etc.  A+
