Steven M. Charney is the chairman of Peckar & Abramson, resident in New York. His practice includes representing America's most prominent contractors, construction managers and developers in the litigation or arbitration of complex disputes.  He is often sought as a lecturer, addressing emerging issues such as risk management, delivery methods, default insurance and green construction.  Mr. Charney has also been at the forefront in addressing critical issues facing the industry, and has led organizations such as the Building Trades Employers Association of New York and the Associated General Contractors of America in so doing. He drafted and led committees in creating industry standards in such areas as the ConsensusDOCS Green Building Addendum and Guidelines for Addressing Mold in Construction - landmark documents of their kind. Mr. Charney also headed efforts that resulted in the US Congress providing US$1 billion to insure the contractors that conducted the World Trade Center recovery effort after 9/11.  Mr. Charney is a Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers and has been recognized as a leading construction attorney by publications such as Who's Who Legal, Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America and Chambers USA for many years consecutively.  Mr. Charney earned both his law degree and master of science in construction management as an evening student, while working in the construction industry. He also holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Syracuse University, with a minor in construction technologies.
